James Rich
1943?- 2013

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - James M. Rich, 70, of Hutchinson Island and Ellicottville, N.Y., died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2013) at St. Lucie Hospice House in Fort Pierce.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary. He also leaves behind four nephews, one niece, several cousins, and neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Rich; and a brother, Anthony F. Rich. Jim was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in Thailand. He graduated from the NYS Ranger School and Syracuse University.

For 37 years, he worked at the NYS office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, culminating his career as the director of the Allegheny Region.

After his retirement in 1998, Jim was on the Seascape II Board, where he served as president for eight years, and the Ocean Village Architectural board of review. He was a member of the Selective Service Board, as well as the American Legion, Elks and Elkdale Country Club. Jim loved to fish and golf.

A funeral Mass will be held on a later date at the St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Olean, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery in Allegany, N.Y.
