Vertigan, Joanne Leslie: Joanne passed from this world peacefully in her sleep on 3/18/09 at her home in Phoenix.

She was born 3/1/1943 In Salamanca, NY.

Joanne was a devoted and loving Mother, Sister and Grandmother but most of all a friend to everyone who knew her. Joanne dedicated her life to her family and her later years to her grandchildren who she loved more than life itself. Joanne moved to Arizona from New York in 1970 and loved everything about Arizona.

Joanne spent many years as a Group Home Manager caring for many children in Arizona, and almost 20 years working with the Salvation Army.

Joanne is proceeded in death by her Husband of almost 40 years, Gary Vertigan, Father and Mother Lester and Marilyn Macmillan; her Brother and Sister Brian Macmillan and Linda Syfrett.

She is survived by her Son, Rory Vertigan, Daughters Marilyn Greenwood and Michelle Ferrell, three Grandsons Jeremy, Nicholas and Derek (Bo) all of Phoenix. She is also survived by her Sisters Sandra McCraken of PA, Lorraine Macmillan and Roxanne Hevert of LA, Eileen Czirr and Audrey Lundsford of NY, Brothers Ray, Bruce and Craig Macmillan of NY and ME also 38 Nieces and Nephews, as well as many loving friends.

She was the best Grandma and Mother in the world. Services will be Tuesday, March 24, 6 - 8 PM, Preston Funeral Home, 3800 S. Central Ave.
