David C. John

CASSADAGA - David C. John, 73, of Cassadaga and formerly of Great Valley, died suddenly Saturday (Sept. 26, 2015) at his home.
Born Dec. 25, 1941, in Salamanca, he was a son of the late Elwood and Berdena Jimerson John. He was married to Cynthia Faith, who survives.
Mr. John was employed as a supervisor of the bridge crew for the New York State Department of Transportation in Sherman and had previously worked out of the Little Valley barns. He was known for his welding and his love for his dogs.
Surviving are three sons, Nicholas (Elise) John of Raleigh, N.C., Scott (Laurie) John of Great Valley and Dana (Ryanne) John of Great Valley; a daughter, Maureen (Michael) Dittman of Salamanca; a stepson, Marlowe Reuther of Cassadaga; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Bixler of Salamanca and Mary Jane (Steve) Block of Steamburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday (Oct. 1, 2015) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of his son, Scott John, 5960 Peth Road, Great Valley, and Friday at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
