Susan Rae Boone of Church Hill, MD, passed away on January 18, 2022, at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, MD. She was 78.

Born on June 1, 1943, in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Erna (Timmerman) Abbott. Susan graduated from Salamanca High School, Class of 1961, and enlisted in the US Air Force. She served until 1965 when she was honorably discharged. She received her LPN certification from Queen Anne’s County High School and worked as a maternity nurse at Chester River Hospital. After several years, she returned to school and received her RN degree from the McQueen-Gibbs Willis School of Nursing in 1991.

She retired from Chester River Hospital in 1995. Susan was a member of Price Bethany United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed road trips and camping with her family. She also enjoyed cruises, especially to Alaska. She loved going out to dinner with family and friends and loved a good cup of coffee.

Susan is survived by her children, Julie Boone (Jack) of Church Hill, MD; David Boone (Nancy) of Chestertown, MD; Lisa Boone of Church Hill, MD; and Matthew Boone (Cindi) of Barclay, MD; her granddaughter Hillary Bauer; and her great-grandchildren Brody Bauer and Paisley Elliott. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Boone in 2013; one son, Baby Boy Boone in 1965; and brothers, Bruce Abbott and Richard Paul Abbott of Salamanca, NY

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 6-8 pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD, where a service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11 am. Burial will follow in Chesterfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Price Bethany Methodist Church, Price Community Center or The Ethel and Leh Women’s Center in Chestertown.
