Early Allegany Resident

Elmer D. Allen A Civel War vet, was wounded at the battle of Fair Oaks (aka Battle of Seven Pines) near Richmond, Va.. He was born in Allegany NY, the son of Stephen Allen who came to Allegany (then Burton) in 1832 and his second wife, Mary Ann Sheldon,. Only two of his children survived to maturity, Wilfred (1896-1964), and Florence (1887 - 1980)
