Izora Blanche Hickok "Zoe" Smith, 90, of Bellaire Place, 23 Southpointe Drive, formerly of Bradford, PA, Olean, NY, and Elizabethtown, PA, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Bellaire Place in Greenville, SC.

Zoe was born December 16, 1919, the eldest daughter of Frederick DeVere Hickok and Berda Bedient Hickok. A graduate of Bradford High School, she attended the University of Michigan where she studied music-primarily piano. She was an accomplished musician who taught piano for many years as well as playing for church services and weddings. She spent several years as choir director at Showers Memorial Methodist Church in Olean, NY, the town where she was also director of Sweet Adelines women's chorus. She also was a pianist for St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown, PA.

In 1940 Zoe married the late Lloyd Walter Smith. Together, they raised 2 sons in Olean, NY, spent 1966-67 in France, lived in Chicago, IL Houston, TX, and Elizabethtown, PA. She was an excellent cook who delighted in entertaining. She devoted her life in service to the Lord, study of scripture, family and the piano. She loved people and was known for her vibrant personality and generosity. She was loved in return by a great many friends and family members.

She is survived by her son, Thomas J. Smith and his wife Carol, along with 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her elder son Donald Earl Smith, her parents, a brother, F. DeVere Hickok Jr., and 3 sisters, Mildred "Honey" Ruppel, Joy Wilson, and LaRue Sadler.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mauldin United Methodist Church, Mauldin, SC, with Rev. Smoke Kanipe officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Willow Dale Cemetery in Bradford, PA.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Sunday from 2:30-3 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Pauls UMC, 398 North Locust Street, Elizabethtown, PA, 17022-1697. Fletcher Funeral Service
