OLEAN - Kathleen M. Wright of 696 Garden Ave., died Friday (Nov. 15,2002) at The Waters of Allegany after a long illness.

Born on Feb. 16,1931, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Charles K. and Kathleen H. Hammond-Wright.

Miss Wright began her teaching career in Randolph, N.Y. before teaching English at Olean High for 33 years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and its ministry, including being a lector, parish council member, Eucharistic minister, RCIA Team member, bereavement ministry member, Altar and Rosary society member, a Sacristan, Stephen Ministry member, and a member of St. Vincent de Paul.

She was a volunteer Meals on Wheels Captain, tutor for Literacy Volunteers of America, Interfaith Caregiver for Maude and Belle Bennett for many years, and a member of both the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and Daughters of the American Revolution.

In 1989 Miss Wright received an award for "outstanding association support" from the Mental Health Association of Cattaraugus County, The Olean City School District presented her with a plaque in 1989 in honor of her retirement after 33 years of dedicated service to her students.

In 1997 Miss Wright received the Lay Award of St. Joseph, presented by the Diocese of Buffalo. She also won the Woman of the Year Award in 1999 from the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Survivors include a cousin, Jean MacMurray of Wellsville, and her private caregivers. Also a surviving are two "girly-o's" a Molly Malone and Maggie a Herself.

Friends may call Monday (Nov. 18,2002) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Guenther Funeral Home, Inc. at 1303 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2002) beginning with a prayer service in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Angels Church.

Father Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville. A scripture wake service will be held in the funeral home Monday (Nov. 18, 2002) at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Mt. Irenaeus Endowment Fund, 117 Roberts Road, Friendship, N.Y. 14739; St. Mary of the Angels Church; or the Cornerstone Full Gospel Medical Loan Closet, 118 Brookview St., Olean.
