John J. McNamee III

RICHMOND, VA --- John J. "Jack" McNamee III, 80, of Richmond, VA, shuffled off this mortal coil on May 12, 2024. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Brett" McNamee; his two children Patrick McNamee and wife Susan of Denver, CO, Leslie Crabtree and husband Chris of Nashville, TN and six grandchildren Cole and Tara McNamee, Sean and Drew Crabtree, and Nolan and Caroline Jones; siblings Patricia Tempesta and husband Joe, Kevin McNamee and wife Mary, Brian McNamee and wife Jill, and Sean McNamee and wife Mimi and other living family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Anne B. McNamee. He was the son of the late John J. McNamee, Jr. and Margaret H. McNamee and was born in Bronx, NY and raised in Olean, NY.

A 1962 graduate of Olean High School, Jack played Varsity football. Jack proudly served as a Huey pilot in the United States Army completing two tours of duty in the Vietnam war. Jack was the face of the Tobacco Company Restaurant for 32 years serving as Director of Operations. While his title reflects that of management he was more than that to those that worked for him. He was a mentor, friend, sometimes parent, bail bondsmen, confident, disciplinarian, counselor and manager. He lived a full life and considered the years after Vietnam as bonus years, of which he had 58. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
