Larkin J. Gram, U.S. veteran, beloved father and husband
CUBA - Larkin J. Gram, formerly of Cuba, passed away unexpectedly Saturday (Feb. 15, 2025) at the Wellsville Manor.
He was born in Olean on Aug. 4, 1944, the son of the late Theodore "TJ" and Margaret Gram. On July 30, 1989, on the dock of their home on their beloved Cuba Lake, he married his cherished wife, the former Susan Fusiara, who predeceased him June 10, 2010.
Larkin graduated from Olean High School in 1962. He then attended Niagara University and St. Bonaventure University, where he graduated in 1966. He joined the U.S. military in 1966, served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1972.
Larkin was employed as a social worker at Cuba Hospital until his retirement.
As a young man, he sailed with his brother Fritz on Cuba Lake until he began his military service in 1966. In his later years, he could be found mastering disc golf or being a dart aficionado. A crossword enthusiast, he solved the easy ones, upside down and backward.
Larkin personified the marriage vow "in sickness and in health" when taking extraordinarily loving care of his wife Susan, throughout her battle with cancer.
Larkin is survived by his son, best friend and pride and joy, Theodore J. Gram; two brothers, Jerome "Dewey" (Nancy Hunt) Gram and Frederick "Fritz" (Jane) Gram; two sisters, Kathy (David) Ernst and Margaret Mary "Merrily" Gram; a sister-in-law, Mary Lynn (Michael) Domboski; a mother-in-law, Julie Fusiara; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Susan; his parents, TJ and Margaret; and his father-in-law, Walter "Bugsy" Fusiara.
The family will receive family and friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. Friday (Feb. 21, 2025) at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St. Olean, with a funeral service starting at 7 p.m. in the funeral home, with Fr. Chris Emminger officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
