Charles D. Beaver, loving dad, grandpa, brother, friend, uncle
HINSDALE - Charles D. Beaver, 78, of Hinsdale, passed away Friday (June 10, 2022) at Olean General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Born on July 7, 1943, in Olean, he was a son of Harry F. and Alberta Cousins Beaver.
Chuck was a graduate of Olean High School Class of 1961. He attended Fenn College in Cleveland, Ohio.
He worked construction for the state of New York prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the 1st Calvary during the Vietnam War from 1965-67 and earned the National Defense Service Medal; Combat Infantryman's Badge; Vietnam Campaign Medal; and Vietnam Service Medal.
After his military career, he and his brothers started Beaver Brothers Roofing, where he worked until his retirement.
Chuck loved shooting bench-rest rifle and was a member of the NBRSA and IBS. He also enjoyed playing euchre, hunting and fishing, and in his spare time enjoyed working on tractors. He and his brother Donald rebuilt one that he later named Alice.
Chuck was a life member and past commander of the Cuba VFW Post 2721 of Cuba. He was also a member of the Hinsdale American Legion, Shawn M. Clemens Memorial AmVets Post 1 of Cuba and Cuba American Legion Post 655.
He is survived by his longtime loving companion and fiancé, Linda Lindermoth of Olean; a daughter, Jesica Beaver of Paris, Tenn.; brothers, Harry (Gretchen) Beaver of Kendall, Donald Beaver of Cuba, Bill (Nancy) Beaver of Cuba and Paul Beaver of Cuba; a sister, Margie (George) Rought of Olean; stepchildren, Pam, Howard and Mike Button of Paris; his grandchildren, Corey (Krista) Bailey, Morgan Boyd, Traylon Button and Rheana of Button Paris, Tenn.; a great-grandson, Jedd Walker Bailey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Beaver.
There will be a private burial with military honors. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday (June 23, 2022) at the Cuba VFW Post 2721, 5425 Route 305, Cuba.
