LEXINGTON, Ken. - On Sept. 23, 2022, Judith "Judy" Calbi Marowski, passed away peacefully at her home in Lexington, surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Judy was born in Olean, N.Y., on Sept. 8, 1942, to Felix and Marie "Doll" Calbi.

Judy was frequently referred to as a "miracle," because a congenital heart condition was expected to cause her death in her first two decades. Instead, she defied enormous odds and survived one of the first open heart surgeries in the country.

She didn't squander that miracle. Instead, she made the most of her time with us. She broadened the worldview and touched the lives of thousands through both her professional career in tourism and extensive volunteerism for myriad important endeavors.

Promoting Lexington to the world was not just a job for Judy, it was a passion. Her great accomplishments in this area were recognized by numerous awards on the state, regional and national levels.

Judy's professional passion was only surpassed by her limitless love for family and friends, or anyone else who needed a hug or a hand.

She volunteered extensively at her church; her children's and grandchildren's schools and extracurricular activities; the Lexington Sister Cities Commission; Mended Hearts®; and Best Friends.™

She also shared her boundless love by welcoming countless family members and friends of her children into her home when they needed a safe haven, hot meal and warm bed.

Judy's infinite love changed the trajectory of many people's lives and many of those people remain part of her extended family today.

She is survived by her childhood sweetheart, adoring husband and best friend, Raymond Michael Marowski; children, Lynn Marowski Brewer (Patrick) of Lexington and Michael Raymond Marowski of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Ray Brewer and Calbi Brewer; siblings, A.J. Calbi (Carol), Ann Schemerhorn (Bill) and Mary Cunningham; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant twin, James.

In lieu of a funeral service, the family will host a celebration of Judy's life, with music, dancing, pictures, stories and laughter, sometime in the near future.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Best Friends™ Adult Day Center, 5220 Grey Oak Lane, Nicholasville, KY 40356 or www.bestfriendsadultday.org/.
