William M. Adsit
1942 - 2024
OLEAN - William M. Adsit, of Olean, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2024), at the Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness.
William was born Aug. 1, 1942, he was the son of the late William E. and Margaret A. Kopec Adsit. In October 1963, he married the former Rosanne M. Malick, who survives.
William was a graduate of Olean High School, Class of 1960. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving 1963-1968, during the Vietnam War, serving as a helicopter pilot, flying numerous missions. During his term of service, he earned several commendations: a Silver Star, an Air Medal with "V" device and numeral 27, a Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit and a Vietnam Service medal with two Bronze Service Stars.
William earned a degree in Electronics and worked as the City of Olean electrician from 1987 until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed his hobbies of computers and woodworking.
William is survived by his wife, Rosanne of 60 years; his children, James E. Adsit of Olean and Susan A. (John) Chouinard of Orlando, Fla.; and his siblings, John E. Adsit of Omaha, Nebraska, and Patricia A. Button of Hinsdale.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret.
At Williams's request, services will be private, with internment at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
