Loraine Smith
1942 - 2018
Durham NC — Lorraine Elizabeth Williamson died peacefully on December 21, 2018 after a long illness. She was born in January 1942 in Olean, NY to Lawrence and Anna Smith. On May 18th 1963, she married her sweetheart, Donald Williamson. They were married 54 years.
Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured her children and grandchildren. She attended all of her children's dance, cheerleading, musical performances, and sporting events. She especially loved her role as Nana and embraced every moment with her family. She was kind and generous with an easy and bright smile and was caring and genuine with all. She and Don loved widening their circle of friends to include the friends of their children from all walks of life.
She attended Olean Public schools and spent most of her life making a happy home for her family, but was inspired by her children to attend college. She later earned a Bachelor's degree from SUNY Empire College.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Don, son, Don Jr., brothers Larry Smith and Don Smith, and sisters Audrey Sherman and June Abdo. She is survived by daughters Laurie Blakeslee (Shane) and Courtney Frankel (Reed), daughter-in-law Pam Williamson, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Zachary, Nolan, Riley, Grace, Katherine, Nathan (Rebecca), Tiffany, and Mitch, great-grandchildren Kennedy and Gavin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
