Greece - June 27, 2018. Carl is predeceased by his parents, James & Genevieve Martel. Carl is survived by his wife of 52 years Joyce A. (Lipani) Martel; children, Lisa (George) Bovenzi, Carl J. Jr. (Lisa) Martel, Cheryl DiFlo­rio; grandchildren, Nick Bovenzi, Toni (Rob) Fardette, Brenden Martel, Alexa Martel, Adriana DiFlorio, Domia DiFlorio; great-grandchildren, Skylar & Robbie; siblings June (Darrel) Wallace & Jim (Kathy) Martel; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. for more information about Carl please visit www. bartolomeo.com

Carl’s visitation will be Sunday 12-4 PM at the Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). His Funeral Mass will be cele­brated Monday, July 2, 9:30 AM at St. Theodore’s Church, 168 Spencerport Rd., followed by his burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to a charity of one’s choice.

Carl was born on June 18th 1941 in Olean, NY to James & Genevieve Martel. He grew up with his two siblings, June and Jim and played basket ball for Olean High School where he graduated in 1959.

Carl met his wife Joyce at Security Trust Bank. They dated briefly for 3 months and then he proposed to Joyce at Al’s Stand in Rochester, NY. Carl and Joyce married at Holy Apostles Church on August 27th 1966. They went on to raise three children, Lisa, Carl Jr. and Cheryl. Carl had a long career in banking, he served 33 years and worked his way up to Bank Manager, eventually retiring as the Vice President of M&T Bank.

Carl loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially attending their hockey games. During his free time, he enjoyed playing and watching golf. Carl also liked to travel and made wonderful memories over the years on trips to Italy, Myrtle Beach, Cape Cod and cruise ships.

Some of his favorite sports teams were NY Yankees, Boston Bruins and the Buffalo Bills. Carl enjoyed reading about history, watching the news and the T.V. show Days of Our Lives. His favorite quote was, “He shoots, he scores!” Carl is described as kind, strong willed and generous. He enjoyed the company of others, was out spoken and had a great sense of humor. Carl lived a full and active life, he will always be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many friends and family.
