Stephen M. Lipman Lake Worth - The Rev. Dr. Stephen M. Lipman, 81, of Lake Worth, FL, died on July 7, 2022 in Erie, PA.

Steve was born to Willa and Joseph Lipman on June 1, 1941, in Olean, NY. He graduated from Olean High School and received his B.A. degree from Kalamazoo College and his B.D. and Doctorate of Ministry degrees from Andover Newton Theological School. He married Grace Marie Smith of Washington DC and they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on June 5, 2022.

Steve served churches in Portland, ME; Jamaica Plain, MA; Cuba, NY and Lake Worth, FL. The second half of Steve's career was spent in chaplaincy. He was a chaplain at Hospice of Palm Beach County, Jupiter Medical Center, and Vitas Hospice. Steve was also an adjunct professor at Palm Beach Community College where he taught courses on Death and Dying. Throughout his long career in ministry, Steve served on many boards and committees and was deeply committed to social justice issues. Steve was a former pastor and longtime devoted member of First Congregational United Church of Christ of Lake Worth. Following retirement, Steve and Grace enjoyed spending their summers in Western New York at the Chautauqua Institution.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Grace; two children, Daniel (Reema) and Elizabeth (Alejandro); five grandchildren, Gina (Jose), John, Priya, Dhiya, and Isabella; brother, Jim; sister, Linda Thorsen; niece, Julie Hay; nephew, Matthew McClung and many cousins and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brother, David.

Steve was a kind and compassionate soul who never met a stranger. He had a passion for service, was dedicated to social justice, and loved the simple joy of making people smile.

A memorial service to celebrate Steve's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at First Congregational Church of Lake Worth, 1415 North K Street, Lake Worth, FL 33460. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Congregational Church of Lake Worth or to P.E.A.C.E. (People Engaged in Active Community Efforts), 100 N. Palmway, Lake Worth, FL 33460.
