After graduating from Olean High School in New York (Class of 1959), Gerald joined the Marines. A United States Marine Corps veteran, Gerald served with honor, with the Guard Company while stationed at "8th & I" Marine Barracks in Washington D.C., where he was a presidential guard and participated in multiple parades, including the Inaugural parade for John F. His career was marked by numerous achievement awards and recognition for his service to the community.

Upon retiring at 55, Jerry and his wife, Linda, enjoyed sailing on multiple cruises, traveling to all 50 states and multiple countries, and most importantly, spending time with the family. He remained active in community service through various civic organizations, including the Rotary and Lions Clubs in New York, and the Kiwanis Club in Wake Forest, where he earned the honor of Kiwanian of the Year. For the past 25 years, he and Linda were devoted parishioners at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, where they formed lasting friendships.

Gerald is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Linda Crawforth Hollowell; daughter, Michele Babcock & spouse, Robert Babcock, III of Daytona Beach, FL; Son, Michael Hollowell & spouse Jonna Hollowell of Franklinton; many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Hollowell; as well as nine siblings.

Private services will be held at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, in Portville, NY, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org), Transitions LifeCare Hospice (https://transitionslifecare.org/donate), or to a charity of the donor's choice.
