PORT HENRY - Helen E. (Eberle) Staunches, 72, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Elizabethtown Community Hospital of cancer.
She was born in Olean, N.Y., on August 2, 1940, to Greta L. (Joans) Eberle and Howard Eberle, raised by mother and stepfather Pete Bonhoff..
Helen worked a number of places during her time, but especially enjoyed working at Frontier Town, North Husdson, N.Y.; Basin Harbor Club, Vergennes, Vt., and Mt.Washington Hotel, Mt. Washington, N.H.
She treasured the time spent with and was much loved by her sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen was a member of the Lake Champlain Bible Fellowship, Port Henry, N.Y..
She is survived by her four children, Kenneth Staunches and fiancee Rebecca Baker of Moriah, N.Y., Michael Staunches of Moriah, N.Y., Victoria (Staunches) Jackson and husband, Terrance Jackson of Littleton, N.H., Lori (Staunches) Swan and husband Howard Swan Jr. of Moriah, NY.; grandchildren, Howard Swan III, Justin Swan, Tiffany Staunches, Corey Jackson and wife Melanie and Nathan Jackson; great- grandchildren, Julianne Swan and Karter Swan; one brother, Edward Eberle; and a sister, Joni Eberle, of Allegane, N.Y. Also her extended family the Budwick's of Crown Point, whom she deeply loved..
The family would like to give a special thanks to Jessica Gay of High Peaks Hospice and the wonderful nurses at Etown Hospital, they were all a great comfort and she loved you all.. A church service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Lake Champlain Bible Fellowship, Henry Street, Port Henry, with Pastor Jeremiah Brinkman officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
