Henry (Hank) Elroy Bogardus
1941 - 2014

Henry (Hank) Elroy Bogardus, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully under hospice care at Blaire House in Tewksbury, MA on March 8, 2014, after a courageous seven-month battle with cancer. He was 72 years old. Born in Olean, NY, November 20, 1941, he served as a submariner in the US Navy from 1959-1963. He ventured off to Southern California where he married Susan Peotter and their son Scott was born in 1970. Later divorced, he moved to Miami, FL where he pursued a successful career in sales in the airline publication business. Hank began a lifetime of entrepreneurial pursuits; creating jobs and opportunities, and ventures that were ahead of their time, including his motivational speaking business, his specialty foods company The Pampered Quail, and a flight school business borne by his love of flying. By the 1980s, Hank was living in the San Francisco Bay Area where he founded a closet organization company called Just Closets. The computerized manufacturing processes drove him to selling CAD-like software, and from 1989-2002, he created System Design Center, in Sausalito which operated as the western support center for an international kitchen design program. It was in Sausalito where he spent some of most enjoyable days of his life with friends aboard his 38’ sloop Footsteps and later, on his 42’ Hatteras Max Headroom, racing and cruising on the Bay.

In March 2003, Hank and his life partner Jean, moved to New Hampshire and settled in Nashua to be closer to his Mom and the rest of his family most of whom resided in the nearby area. Hank got his license and became a Real Estate agent for Verani Realty as well as developed a photography business creating virtual tours for real estate marketing. Ever positive, never looking back, Hank lived his life always looking for the next adventure, and moving forward. His hopeful outlook and “can do” attitude will truly be missed.

Predeceased by his mother Audra Bogardus, Hank is survived by his life partner of 27 years, Jean Hallstone of Nashua, his brother Ron Bogardus of Hollis and wife Eileen, his sister Diane McLaughlin of Hudson and husband Ed, and Diane’s daughter Andrea Duksta and her husband John of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by his son Scott Bogardus and his wife Jessica as well has his grandchildren, Jordan, Noah and Emma Bogardus, of Corona, CA, his former sister-in law, Anne Bogardus of Derry, NH, his nephew Brian Bogardus and wife Raquel and their sons Cody and Austin of Taunton, MA, his nephew Chris Bogardus and wife Michele of Manchester, NH and their daughter Alexandra, and his nephew Mike Bogardus and wife Jiselle of Manchester, along with children Mark, Angela and their granddaughter Anaiah.

A private celebration of his life will be held by his family and memorial contributions may be made to the cause or charity of personal choice.
