Virginia C. Wind
1940 - 2019

OLEAN - Virginia C. Wind, of 722 Bishop St., Olean, passed away Thursday (Jan. 17, 2019) at Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 25, 1940, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Melville and Katherine H. Agen Wind.

Virginia was a 1958 graduate of Olean High School.

She worked for Xerox, in Rochester, for many years.

She was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church and St. Mary of the Angels Parish. Virginia's greatest passion was her family genealogy. She also enjoyed doing the puzzles in the paper, reading, gardening and playing cards. She was on the Olean High School Alumni Association and helped organize their 60th-year class reunion. Virginia also loved spending time with her family, especially her great- nieces and nephews.

Surviving is her brother, Donald Wind of Olean; a sister- in- law, Bernie Wind of Rochester; several nieces and nephews, including Jason (Elizabeth) Wind of Oswayo, Pa., Julie (Shannon) Bliven of Belmont, Nicholas Wind of Olean and Chris (Kelly Gerrity) Wind of Olean; many great- nieces and nephews; as well as great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and David Wind; and a sister-in-law, Jean Wind.

Family will receive friends from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Monday (Jan. 21, 2019) at the Guenther Funeral Home, 1303 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
