OLEAN - Rosemarie K. Gagliardo of 120 N. 14th St. passed away unexpectedly Thursday (July 31, 2014) at the Buffalo General Hospital in the presence of her loving husband, children and grandchildren.
Born Nov. 7, 1940, in Olean she was a daughter of Joseph and Rose Stritof. On June 18, 1960, at Transfiguration Church in Olean she married Vincent Gagliardo, Sr. who survives.
Rosemarie attended Transfiguration Catholic School and graduated from Olean High School in 1958. She had been employed as a dental assistant for various dentists including Dr. McCarthy, Dr. Dudley, Dr. Illig and most recently Dr. J. Rudolph Schrot prior to her retirement in 2002.
She was a member of the former Transfiguration Church and later St. Mary of the Angels Church. Her faith and her family were the center of her life. She found joy and comfort when she and her husband were in the presence of their children and grandchildren.
Surviving besides her loving husband are three children, Denise (David) Renaud of Olean, Vincent (Coleen) Gagliardo, Jr. of Penfield, and Marc (Tammy) Gagliardo of Hamilton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Sophia and Sam Renaud, Vincent III, Anna Rose and Patrick Gagliardo; two sisters, Agnes Ann Moudy of Conway, S.C., and Antoinette Wood of Rose; and several nieces and a nephew.
Friends will be received on Monday (Aug. 4, 2014) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (Aug. 5, 2014) beginning with a prayer service at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
