Constance Stomierosky

PALMYRA, Va. - Constance Stomierosky DellaPietra, of Palmyra, and originally from Olean, N.Y., passed away peacefully Saturday (March 19, 2022) after a brief illness. She was 82.
Connie was a devoted mother who raised her children in East Rochester, N.Y. She went to college at night after her children were grown, earning a BS degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1996, and she worked for many years at St. John Fisher College and at the Rochester Institute of Technology's National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
She relocated to Virginia in 1998, where she lived with her daughter Teresa for many years.
Connie was a passionate supporter of peace, equality and social justice. She loved books and was an avid reader. She relished every opportunity to help promote literacy and social causes in the communities in which she lived, and she volunteered her time and energy to many non-profit organizations over the years, including the Fluvanna County Friends of the Library and the Virginia Festival of the Book.
Connie will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
Connie is survived by her four loving children, T.J. (Sayaka Fujimoto) DellaPietra of Greenwich, Conn., Jerry DellaPietra of Rochester, N.Y., Paul DellaPietra of Webster, N.Y. and Teresa DellaPietra of Palmyra; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Gloria Tansey of Annandale; and many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held for family and friends at a future date.
