OLEAN - Joan T. Jurenko of 423 Fountain St., died Wednesday (April 11, 2007) in Olean General Hospital following a long illness.
She was born Nov. 25, 1940 in Olean, the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret O'Donnell Padden. On July 12, 1969, in St. Mary of the Angels Church, she married Anthony E. Jurenko, who survives.
Joan was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1958, and was a 1989 graduate of Olean Business Institute. She worked at St. Francis Hospital, Rochester General Hospital Mental Health Clinic and the Olean Medical Group until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and the St. Stephen's Club Ladies Auxiliary.
Joan enjoyed reading, listening to her favorite music, watching old movies, her Irish heritage and conversation with her friends, family and most of all, her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Mark) Kless of Machias and Anne-Marie 'Annie' (Scott) Herron of Niskayuna; four grandchildren, Wake Adam Kless, Gracie Lynn Kless, Aiden Patricia Herron and Ella Sophia Herron; two brothers, Charles (Myrna) Padden of Livonia, Mich. and James (Lucy) Padden of Allegany; two sisters, Margaret (Frank) Ensell of Olean and Mary Lou Saunders of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Padden of Olean.
She was predeceased by one brother, Patrick E. Padden.
Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Tribute Program, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn.
