Robert Preston Moore passed away quietly at his home in Norwalk with his family by his side on February 6, 2016. Born in Olean, NY, he was the son of Dr. Elllis C. Moore and his wife Catherine. In addition to the loves of his life -- wife, Cindy and daughter, Ashley -- his passions were aviation, history and The University of Virginia.
Preston served in the Army near Fairbanks, Alaska during the Vietnam War and went on to obtain numerous ground instructor ratings at Florida flight schools under the G.I. Bill. He taught as a flight instructor in St. Petersburg before moving on to corporate flying out of White Plains, N.Y. Later, he worked for Transavia Holland Airlines where he thoroughly enjoyed the international operations and frequent trips to Europe.
Most recently, Preston was Director of Westy Self Storage where he especially took pleasure in hosting charity events. Preston and Cindy have lived in Norwalk for the past 38 years.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia M. Moore, Norwalk, CT; daughter, Ashley M. Delacruz, New York, NY; son-in-law, Raymond Delacruz, New York, NY and pre-deceased by brother, Ellis C. Moore.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday February 12, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at which time there will be a memorial service at Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. Interment will be private. Please visit www.norwalkfh.com for more information.
