Charles Jurenko
1939 - 2023
Olean- Charles F. Jurenko, of 917 Irving Street, Olean, passed away Monday (January 23, 2023) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born June 4, 1939, in Olean, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Sorochin Jurenko. On June 30, 1962, at St. John's Church in Olean, he married Susan Evelyn Brougham, who survives.
Charlie worked for Dresser Rand in Olean for 41 years, retiring in 2004. He was a longtime member of the Local 4601 United Steelworkers and the Olean Rod and Gun Club. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association Golden Eagles. Charlie was a past member of the St. Stephen’s and Pulaski Clubs.
He was a master gardener and an avid hunter, trap shooter, and woodworker. He especially enjoyed hunting with his son, Ed and old friend, Rick.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by; one son, Edward Jurenko of Olean; and two brothers, Anthony Jurenko of Olean and Daniel Jurenko of Syracuse.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State Street on Friday (January 27, 2023) from 11am-1pm. Funeral services will begin at 1pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
