1940 - 2012
OLEAN - Carol Ann Smucinski, of 111 N. 9th St., passed away Thursday (Aug. 23, 2012) at the Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family following a length illness.
Carol was born Jan. 23, 1940, in Olean, and she was a daughter of Ralph and Helen Bergreen Foxe.
On Aug. 26, 1961, in St. John's Church, she married her husband of 51 years, Gerald T. Smucinski, who survives.
Carol was a 1958 graduate of Olean High. She worked at Daystrom from 1959 to 1961. She later worked at Enchanted Garden Flower Shop from 1984 to 1988. Carol was a member of St. Mary's of the Angels Church in Olean. She was a volunteer for the March of Dimes and The American Heart Association for many years. Carol enjoyed bowling. She was a member of the 600 Club, past secretary for the Gold Cup League and taught junior bowling for a number of years. Carol was past president of the PTA at the Ivers J. Norton School, where she also acted as an assistant photographer. She enjoyed cooking. Most of all, Carol loved her husband and family and njoyed taking care of them.
Along with her loving husband, Carol is survived by a son, Terrance J. (Michele) Smucinski of Olean; a daughter, Melissa C. (Eric) Froebel, Suwanee, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Benjamin, Bailey, Brianna, Braeden, Bridgette nd eckley Froebel, Ashley L. Maynard, Gerald J. Maynard, Forrest R. Smucinski and Matthew J. aynard.
Carol was predeceased by her parents and an infant brother, Roy Foxe, in 1946.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday (Aug. 27, 2012). The Rev. James Vacco, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Allegany emetery, Allegany. Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Pines, 2245 W.
