Portville - Kenneth R. Fowler "Loving Husband, Father, & Grandfather"

Kenneth R. Fowler, of 1136 Portville-Obi Road, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Kenneth was born on July 29, 1940 in Olean and was a son of Raymond A. and Margie R. Eaton Fowler. On July 22, 1961, at the St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, he married his wife of 57 years, Jaquelyn E. Kent, who survives.

Kenneth graduated from Olean High School and attended St. Bonaventure University. He served in the US Navy and the US Marine Corps from September 6, 1960 to March 28, 1969, during which time he earned several medals including 2 Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citations. Kenneth worked for Conap/Cytec in Olean. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.

Kenneth was on a constant quest to increase his knowledge in chemistry, mathematics, philosophy, and psychology. He was driven to self-educate in addition to taking courses to expand his mind. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, fly tying, but he loved reading and collecting books. He was a master story teller and an avid animal lover and feeder of all wildlife.

Along with his loving wife, Kenneth is survived by; 4 children, Mark K. (Trish) Fowler of Shinglehouse, PA, Raymond A. (Diane) Fowler of Alta Vista, Kansas, Laurie A. (Steve) Boyer of Louisville, KY, and Karen L. (Dave) VanHoutte of Clarence; a daughter-in-law, Rachel (Backeng Pangda) Fowler of Baguio City, Philippines; 20 grandchildren; many many great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Sharon S. (Daniel) Barr of Olean and Kathleen A. Rogers of Portville.

Kenneth was predeceased by; his parents; a son, David Scott Fowler on Sept. 24, 2018; a brother, Daniel Fowler in 2004; and a brother-in-law, Earl Rogers.

Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean, on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, at which time a Funeral Service will be held. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany, on Monday, February 25, 2019, along with his son, David S. Fowler. Full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892 ritual team.
