LAS VEGAS, NV --- Doris Altman Martino, 83, a former longtime resident of Olean, and in more recent years of Las Vegas, NV, passed away Tuesday (October 17, 2023) in Houston, TX.

Born January 1, 1940 in Franklin, PA, she was one of 10 children born to John and LaRita Altman. On July 5, 1958 in Knapp Creek, NY she married Joseph Martino who predeceased her October 28, 2022.

Doris was a 1958 graduate of Olean High School. Always an energetic and enterprising woman, she raised her children as well as worked in business. She began employment with the former Dahar Shoe Store in uptown Olean which she later operated with her husband Joe as Martino's Shoe Store. She also became owner of Union News in uptown Olean and ran the popular store until her retirement.

She had several hobbies over the years which included skateboarding and metal detecting. She also spent many enjoyable years as a year-round resident of Cuba Lake, "Cottage 1".

She leaves behind five sons, John (Barbara) Martino of Live Oak, FL, Mark Martino of Las Vegas, Timothy Martino of Las Vegas, Joseph (Patricia) Martino of St. Petersburg, FL, and Thomas Martino of Houston, TX; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, David (Margaret) Altman of Beverly, MA, Gerald (Sandi) Altman of Scottsdale, AZ, Betsy (Michael) Zampogna of Olean, Tootsie (John) Willman of Lake Wylie, SC, and James Douglas of Reseda, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Joe, she was predeceased by two daughters, infant Marcie Martino, and Debra Martino, and four siblings, Robert Altman, William Altman, Jeanine Olkosky, and Nancy Guzzetta.

No services are being planned at this time. The family will celebrate their mom's life with a private gathering at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
