Daniel T. Gabler
1939 -2023
OLEAN - Daniel T. Gabler, 83, of Olean, passed away Tuesday (May 23, 2023) at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, with his wife and family by his side.
Born Oct. 16, 1939, in Olean, he was the son of Francis E. and Norma Riggs Gabler. On April 29, 1995, in Olean, he married Rachelle Wenerski, who survives.
Daniel was a graduate of Olean High School and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
After his honorable discharge, he began working for the First National Bank in Olean, which later became Exchange Bank, then Community Bank, until his retirement as a loan officer. He then worked at Olean General Hospital for a number of years until he was 72.
He loved golfing and fishing and was known for his terrific lemon meringue pie.
He leaves behind his wife, Rachelle; one daughter, Shelli Romero of Hamburg; two sons, Michael (Amy) Gabler of East Concord and Adam (Nicole) Gabler of Olean; three stepchildren, Philip (Amy) Sweet of Geneseo, Kristina (Joseph) Worth of Hamburg and Kelly (Craig Polson) Sweet of Olean; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah, Gabrielle, Sabrina, Raidon, Orion and Evelyn; several step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, William Gabler of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Rebecca Gabler and Susan Lindamer.
Funeral services will be private at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery, with full military honors being accorded by the Allegany American Legion honor guard.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
