Joan S. Kaydos loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt

OLEAN --- Joan S. Kaydos, of Olean, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at home with her family by her side.

Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Papuga) Wallon. On August 20, 1960, she married Thomas C. Kaydos, who survives.

Joan graduated from Olean High School in 1954. She then worked for SS Kresge Co., Dresser Clark, Cecchi News Agency, Cattaraugus County Social Services, St. Francis and retired from Olean General Hospital in 1999.

Joan was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and volunteered for Project Linus and the Olean General Hospital. Never one to waste a moment of the day, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, baking, crafts and crocheting. Her special affection for babies found its way into many a newborn's beanie, blanket or booties. And, anyone who delighted in her blueberry pie or cheesecake can attest to her talents in the kitchen.

Her expressions of love took many forms and will be very much missed.

Joan is survived by her husband, Thomas; two daughters, Dr. Janet (Steve) Berthel, and their children, Ana and Joseph, and Suzanne Lombardi (the late Vincent Lombardi, Jr.), Edmund Caluori and children Vincent (Sara) Lombardi, III, and Teresa Lombardi; two sisters, Marion Pockalny and Genevieve Borowski; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anna; and a sister, Bernice Welch. Per Joan's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Donations in memoriam, may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St, Olean.
