Visit the Cattaraugus County NY Archives A Digital Library of The USGenWeb Archives Project Western New York Genealogical Society Founded in 1974 to help preserve and encourage interest in the area's rich genealogical heritage. Their work focuses on the eight counties of Western New York - Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming, Orleans, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany - that were originally part of the Holland Land Company Purchase. This is a relatively new project. When we first linked to this site they had 4000 manifests transcribed. That number is now17,000+ Passenger Manifests in 16 Volumes plus numerous other passengers listed in Special Projects. New York County Formation Maps County lines changed through the years as new counties were added. this site shows county boundaries by year.
