Norman Reitz, passes at Buffalo VA Hospital
Norman J. Reitz of 1044 Rose Street, Buffalo, passed away Tuesday (December 5, 1972) at the Veterans Hospital in Buffalo after a long illness. He was 77 years of age.
Potsy, as he was known to his friends an neighbors, was born in Olean, October 6th, 1895, a son of John and Hannah Smith Reitz. He lived in this village for many years during the time that his parents operated Reitz'Grocery Store, later known as the F.M. Wing grocery at 107 West Main street.
He was employed as an accountant for Price Waterhouse Accountants and later served as office manager for Art Metal Corp. of Jamestown prior to his retirement. For the past several years he had been residing on Cooper Hill road before moving to Buffalo a short time ago.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church of Olean and veteran of World War One, serving as a sergeant in Company I, 108th Infantry in France. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Foster of Downey, Calif., two granddaughter; two brothers, W. Paul Reitz of Olean and Karl E. Reitz of McClure Hollow road on the Five Mile.
Rev. Ronald L. Bergen, Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church officiated at the funeral services Friday morning at 11:00 and burial was in the Allegany cemetery on Maple Avenue
