Lois Lawler Woodworth
May 16, 1923 - June 19, 2010
Lois Lawler Woodworth of Cedar Grove, N.J., died on Saturday, June 19, 2010. Arrangements are by the O'Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St., Bloomfield, N.J. Born in Ellicottville, N.Y., to Hollice and Walter Lawler, Lois was a sister to James, Eugene, Robert and Charles. She attended the University of Michigan and SUNY Buffalo, married her husband, John, and moved to Cedar Grove in 1959.
In addition to caring for her family, Lois volunteered tirelessly for the LRP and Cedar Grove Public Library and attended Caldwell College to study library science. After a fulfilling career at the Irvington Public Library, she volunteered at the Hepatitis Foundation. Lois loved reading and solving crossword puzzles. She was a fan of tennis, hockey, figure skating, theater and the arts. Lois remained active until late in life, traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, San Francisco and with her elderhostel and senior citizen friends on their many excursions. She enjoyed nature hikes and walks with her dog, Willi.
Throughout her life, everyone who came in contact with Lois found her to be friendly, compassionate and helpful. She treated people with dignity and respect and was always a lady. Her children remember her as an endless supporter, caregiver, worrier and helper, but above all else, a friend. She is survived by her brother, James; son, John; daughter, Ann and husband, Peter; grandson, Jonathan and wife, Kendra, and, of course, the grandpuppies, Gizmo and Casey.
