Alonzo Hubbard Cook

Yorkshire Civil War Veteran




Alonzo Hubbard Cook, b 6 Oct 1815, d 21 June 1901.  He was the son of Reuben and Laura Cook, born in Ticonderoga Co.  He came to Cattaraugus Co in 1828, married Polly Howell 1 June 1842.  He enlisted at the Universalist Church, Delavan 31 Dec 1861, joined Company K 105 N.Y.V.I. 1st Brigade - 1st Division - 3rd A.C.--fought at Haymarket and Antietam.  Was wounded at Antietam.  Gunshot wounds in  head and left arm and left leg.  Was in the field hospital in Washington until recovered and returned to Regiment.  Captured at Gettysburg and sent to Annapolis, then paroled.  Honorably discharged 25 April 1865 at Elmira, New York.  Buried under the auspices of the Howell Post 390 G.A.R. of which he was a member.  Internment at Mapledale.
